Kate has completed degrees in Psychology at the University of Sydney (Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and the University of New South Wales (Master of Clinical Psychology (Honours)).

Kate’s clinical orientations are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based, time limited and goal oriented psychological therapy which is individually tailored to teach individuals to identify and modify the maladaptive thoughts and behaviours that are maintaining their psychological distress. Patients usually require anywhere from 6 to 20 CBT sessions depending on the severity and duration of their symptoms.

CBT has consistently been shown throughout the world to be very effective in treating a wide range of psychological disorders. Kate was trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy over the two year full- time Master of Clinical Psychology course at the University of New South Wales.

Whilst many patients respond positively to CBT, for some, more deeply held and destructive feelings and beliefs prove difficult to shift using CBT alone. Schema Therapy is  an experience based psychotherapy that is effective in addressing these deeply held and damaging feelings and beliefs.  Patients usually require at least 25 sessions of Schema Therapy. Kate has Advanced Level Certification (for providing Individual Schema Therapy) from the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST).

Kate has been a long term member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. She is also a full member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) , the Australian Association for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (AACBT), the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST), the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED) and the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA). Kate is a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDE).
